Thank you so much for posting this information – found it very useful. I know this is fairly an old post but it is still relevant and cost me a fraction of what Nokia Care centre quoted ($200 AUD) to get it fixed. I could not believe the problem was so simple to fix. I’ve bought this phone in 2007 and still happy to have it. :-)

I’ve got the Flex cable online and Torx screwdriver was from Jaycar in Australia.

I went to the Oriental Plaza and found one there! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I bought two, each for R25. Still, R100 is nothing compared to what would have been charged had I taken it to a repair centre.

Thanks!

Yes I am. Johannesburg in fact. The cable was R10 at that time but 6 months later it was selling for R25. Probably due to an increase in broken N80's. I bought mine from a shop in the Oriental Plaza but I've seen it sold in the flea markets as well. Some people have reported issues with the quality of these cables but the one I bought has had no issues.

Hi there,

Im having the same issue with mine.

Are you from South Africa?

I see you said the ribbon cable was only R10, where did you find it?

Any help would be much appreciated as I can fix it myself with the help of your guide!

Thanks!
